Another World Issue

After reading a blog post from the author Joshua Abbott, I was very intrigued by your ideas about food and world hunger. World hunger is a big problem around the world, especially with people and families living in poverty. After reading your blog you have shown me that the human body shares a relationship with food. As this relationship isn’t literal, it is an important relationship. An example of the relationship between your body and food is being hungry causes you to become angrier. The term “hangry” originates from this idea. I have defiantly experienced being hangry on multiple occasions and I can not imagine living with this feeling for weeks or months on end. Food has such a high impact on our body and our mental state. This is known as Food well-being. This puts into perspective how important food is. I can especially relate to this when I start my day off with breakfast, compared to days when I don’t have breakfast. There is a drastic difference in my mental state whether or not I have breakfast. After hearing your explanation on how important food is, It makes me relies how much of a problem world hunger is. Being hungry has such a hardship on families. “In the context of well-being, the fact that a family’s well-being is put in jeopardy if the individuals are not being fed is mind-boggling, but it is true. The outcome of not being fed is detrimental and your food well-being is being impacted and not for the best.”(Abbott, Hunger No More). Food well-being is important. Look at the numbers 15 percent of the population in America did not have enough money to buy food. This is a large number of Americans that are affected by world hunger. The majority of us can’t imagine not being able to pay for food because we are fortunate enough to not live with this problem, but to the population living in hunger, it has a negative impact on their life. This also relates to poverty, these two world issues are impacting the world in such a negative way. While reading about world hunger and studying the effects of poverty we need to take initiative and make a change for the better, most of us will never know how it feels, but we need to realize they are very big problems. Hopefully, with enough change, we can lower the numbers of people living in poverty and in hunger.
